Fresh from our successful run of the Kipawa, we set our sights on the series of drops on the Rouge river in Quebec. Hell or High Water

2011-05-07 Hell or High Water

The annual Hell or High Water festival is fast becoming an established Ottawa valley boaters favourite. After having had such a great time at last year's event; Hell or High Water 2010, we put in some training in the week leading up to the race - a few runs down the town section of the Petawawa where the race was being held, the Ottawa, and a great run down the upper Petawawa in high water. We also made sure that this time we were a bit better prepared - we even checked out where the finish line was before the race! Water levels were high so right from the start, Railroad rapid had some chunky stoppers to contend with and there was a crowd waiting at Lover's to watch the carnage. We got some good lines on both our runs, and put in a time of 6:24, comfortably beating the second placed team who managed 6:41.

Paddlers; Graham Ball, Jon Booren, Andy Hill, Lars Romeskie, Gwyn Ashcroft, Blake Mahoney

Good days on the river
